Training on Writing Series – Scoring and Samples offered in September

The Mississippi Department of Education’s Office of Curriculum and Instruction, Division of Literacy, announces an opportunity for teachers, district administrators, principals, lead teachers, and instructional coaches serving grades 3-5 and grades 6-End-of-Course (EOC) to participate in a half-day, in-person professional development training titled Part 2 Writing Series – Scoring and Samples.

This training will be offered in two concurrent sessions; one designed for grades 3-5 and the other for grades 6-EOC. Participants will analyze MAAP writing samples to deepen their understanding of grade-level writing expectations, strengthen scoring calibration, and support effective writing instruction and assessment practices.

The morning and afternoon sessions are identical. Participants should register for and attend only one half-day session.

Note: This half-day training does not offer CEUs, SEMIs, or OSLs.
