Significant Cognitive Disability Special Education Coordinator position available; Apply by June 30

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Office of Special Education is seeking competitive applications from qualified candidates for the Educator-in-Residence (EIR) position of Special Education Significant Cognitive Disabilities (SCD) Coordinator. This coordinator will provide services for the Mississippi Department of Education, offering technical assistance and professional learning to support effective instructional practices and services for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The coordinator will collaborate with MDE offices, local education agencies (LEAs), and stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state requirements.

The Individualized Education Program (IEP) specialist will focus on strengthening academic growth for students with disabilities, ensuring effective use of accommodations and modifications, and promoting consistent, legally compliant implementation of IEPs across LEAs. The specialist will collaborate with MDE offices, LEAs, and statewide stakeholders to ensure alignment with IDEA and Mississippi state requirements.
