The Mississippi Department of Education Office of Curriculum and Instruction Division of Literacy is seeking highly qualified applicants for 4th – 8th grade Regional Adolescent Literacy Coordinators Educator in Residence (EIR) positions.
The Division of Literacy is responsible for supporting and training 4th – 8th grade teachers, curriculum specialists, and other educators by providing evidence-based instructional strategies for literacy. Passed during the 2026 legislative session, the Adolescent Literacy Initiative (ALI) prioritizes grade-level reading instruction as students encounter increasingly complex text in 4th – 8th grades. By emphasizing grade-level literacy instruction and targeted support, the initiative seeks to ensure that students remain on track academically during the middle grades. The initiative recognizes that strong literacy skills are foundational to success in high school, higher education, and future careers, making this developmental stage vital for long-term achievement. The deadline for receipt of applications is on or before Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST).
