MS Hearing-Vision Project announces free professional development opportunities

The Mississippi Hearing-Vision Project (MHVP) is offering several free professional learning opportunities for educators, administrators, service providers, and family members who support children and youth with combined hearing and vision challenges. These trainings are designed to provide practical strategies, evidence-based practices, and valuable resources while allowing participants to earn continuing education credit.

Literacy for Children Who Are Deaf-Blind

This self-paced training explores literacy development for children who are deaf-blind and provides research-based instructional practices that can be applied across educational settings.

OHOA courses are offered in sets of three learning activities and provide foundational and advanced content related to deafblindness and educational supports.

Join colleagues from across the state in a collaborative learning community focused on serving students with sensory impairments.

Participants may earn 1.0 CEU by attending 10 monthly virtual sessions, each lasting one hour.

If you are unable to attend a session, a make-up option consisting of an asynchronous activity with a brief assignment.

In-Person Training | November 11–13

Includes required 2.5 days of intensive, hands-on professional learning experience & 4 online 1-hour/month coaching sessions.

 What Participants Receive during In-Person Training

  • Continental breakfast
  • Lunch each day
  • Expert coaching and facilitated team planning

Participant Expectations

Teams of at least two individuals must attend together with an identified individual of focus in mind. The second team member may be a family member of the individual of focus.

Following the in-person training, all teams are expected to participate in four monthly virtual coaching sessions to support implementation and follow-through.

Participants who complete all requirements will earn 2.3 CEUs.
