School districts are reminded of the annual requirements related to dropout prevention planning. Pursuant to Miss. Code Ann. § 37-13-80, each district must develop, board-approve, and publicly post its Dropout Prevention Plan on the district website homepage no later than August 1 of each school year. In addition, districts are required to submit their 2026/2027 approved plans no later than August 1, 2026, to the Mississippi Department of Education Office of Compulsory School Attendance Enforcement and Dropout Prevention at the following link: mdek12.wufoo.com/forms/k11118781mnnc7l
High schools with a graduation rate below 85% must also develop a Graduation Restructuring Plan designed to improve student outcomes and increase graduation rates. Districts are encouraged to include representatives from feeder middle schools in the planning process to ensure a comprehensive approach to dropout prevention and student success.
