Core Elements in the Science Classroom: Engineering Design & Technology

The Engineering Design Process (EDP) and Technology are two of the six core elements used to design the Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Science; yet their practical role in the classroom may be driven by common misconceptions. Both EDP and Technology increase rigor by encouraging students to apply knowledge to new situations, include divergent perspectives, make relevant observations, and synthesize information. Teachers must have a full understanding of these elements to effectively incorporate them into their classroom instruction.

This is a hybrid professional development session where participants will engage in asynchronous online activities before attending a one-day, in-person session.
