The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) is inviting Mississippi high school juniors and seniors to discover the many career opportunities available in health care during its annual Exploring Health Care Pathways program on Saturday, Aug. 22, in Jackson.
Hosted by the UMMC Office of Admissions and the Improved Primary Care for the Rural Community through Medical Education (IMPACT the RACE) Program, the one-day enrichment event is designed to introduce students to a variety of health professions while providing valuable information about admissions requirements, educational pathways, and scholarship opportunities.
Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the IMPACT the RACE Program is committed to strengthening Mississippi’s health care workforce by encouraging more students to pursue careers in primary care, particularly in the state’s rural communities.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about academic programs and health professions offered at UMMC.
- Explore admission requirements and educational pathways.
- Receive information about scholarships and student resources.
- Connect with UMMC faculty, staff and admissions representatives.
- Gain insight into careers that support Mississippi’s future health care workforce.
The program is free to attend; however, registration is limited to the first 250 students.
