State Board of Education Junior Student Representative applications due Jan. 30

Attention Superintendents, High School Principals, and Counselors:

Applications are being accepted for the Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) Junior Student Representative position for students who will be a high school junior in 2026-27 school year. Deadline to apply is Jan. 30, 2026.

This marks the eighth year of the Student Representatives of the Mississippi State Board of Education program, in which a high school junior and high school senior serve on the SBE as non-voting members. A junior representative is selected each year following an extensive application process. After serving for one year, the junior rep moves to the senior student rep position. According to SBE Chair Matt Miller, these students have provided an important perspective and their participation in the program has added tremendous value to board discussions and deliberations.

The application packet can be accessed at Student Board Representative Position  or https://msachieves.mdek12.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Application-FINAL.docx  for electronic distribution to students or it can be downloaded from the Mississippi Department of Education website.
