Dear Secondary Science Teacher,
Secondary science teachers are playing an important role in shaping how Generative AI (GenAI) tools, such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot, are used in classrooms. Your experiences and perspectives can help researchers better understand how to support the effective and responsible use of these technologies in science education.
I am Timothy Okunoye, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Technology, Leadership and Design at Mississippi State University. I am conducting a research study examining secondary science teachers’ perceptions and use of Generative AI tools.
You are invited to participate if you are currently teaching science in grades 6–12 in Mississippi State K-12 school.
What participation involves:
Completing a single online survey that takes approximately 10–15 minutes. The survey asks about your perceptions of GenAI tools and your current use of them in your teaching practice.
Your rights as a participant:
Participation is completely voluntary. You may withdraw at any time without penalty.
Your responses are confidential and will be used for research purposes only.
Your name and individual responses will never be shared or reported.
Incentive:
All participants will be automatically entered into a raffle draw for chance to win Walmart gift card as a token of appreciation for their time. This is not subject to your completion of the survey; by saying yes to consenting to the study, you automatically enter the raffle.
