The Mississippi Department of Education Office of Safe and Orderly Schools and the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) and Jackson Resident Office invite educators to attend a free school safety event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. August 26, at the Jackson Convention Complex in Jackson, Mississippi.
The event is called Preventing Targeted School Violence: A Behavior Based Approach and will include expert speakers in the field of behavioral threat assessment and management discussing best practices for targeted violence prevention. Presentations will highlight the importance of using a behavior-based approach to identify K-12 students who elicit concern in others, assess the risk of harm posed to self and others, and manage that risk by offering assistance as early as possible.
This event is intended for law enforcement, first responders, private sector security, workplace violence programs, government partners, analysts, educators, mental health professionals, healthcare personnel, faith-based leadership and security, and others with a role in community safety.
