Prime Online, a professional development opportunity for teachers who have students struggling with mathematics, is a great opportunity to help students who lag behind due to the chaotic conditions created by COVID-19. Five teachers are enrolled from Mississippi, and more are sought. The deadline to enroll is Friday, April 8.
Prime Online is a fully online professional development program for teachers who work in 4th grade inclusive settings. Prime Online focuses on building teachers’ content knowledge for teaching mathematics; understanding of the learning needs of students with Math Learning Disabilities and other struggling learners, and knowledge and skill in using both evidence-based practices in math and progress monitoring. The online PD begins in May 2022 and ends December 2022.
The PD is online via Canvas while teachers work and apply their new knowledge in real time with their students. We are measuring outcomes on both teacher knowledge of mathematics and math teaching as well as student outcomes (specifically in regards to learning fraction content).
Recruited teachers will be randomly assigned to either treatment or control. Recruited teachers receive Stipends ($1,250.00), Video equipment (iPad, microphone, Tripod); books, and Assessment probes. Control teachers will receive Stipends ($25.00) and Video equipment (iPad, microphone, Tripod).
