SB3044 Webinar Q&A

7 24 20 Digital Learning Plan_v2

Dear Superintendents,

Last Friday, July 24, the MDE outlined the first step of the implementation of the Equity in Distance Learning Act (SB3044).  We presented the outline of the act – including eligible expenses and priority expenditures – as well as the allocation to the districts in relation to the Digital Learning Needs Assessment you submitted in June.

As follow up to the Equity in Distance Learning Act webinar, there are FOUR ITEMS the MDE would like to share with you:

  1. The PowerPoint from last Friday is attached, and you can find a recording of the webinar here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/recording/7073412697149108995.
  2. As discussed during the webinar, the MDE would like you to update and verify your information from the June Digital Learning Needs Assessment.  You will find the Digital Learning Needs Assessment Verification Form in the FY21\EDLA folder within both the Superintendent’s and the Business Manager’s SharePoint folders for each district.
    a. Please send completed form to survey@mdek12.org by July 31, 2020 at 5:00 PM.  Notification from MDE of the receipt of this revision form on Monday, August 3rd.
    b. If you do not complete the form, the MDE will use the information you provided in June.
  3. The MDE reviewed the Chat Questions submitted during the webinar and has produced a Q&A document intended to address your questions.
  4. The MDE will be hosting a second webinar to continue the discussion regarding the implementation of the Equity in Distance Learning Act (SB3044), as well as to begin the discussion regarding the implementation of the “Mississippi Pandemic Response Broadband Availability Act” (HB1788).
