Mississippi Department of Education’s Office of Curriculum and Instruction is offering training designed to support educators serving English learner (EL) students. Deadline to register is Aug. 24.
This training is designed for all teachers (EL, general education, special education) and administrators (building and district level) who support EL students. The training will include in-person and virtual training. During the in-person training, expert facilitators will lead Mississippi educators in a deep dive on how to better understand the Mississippi English Language Proficiency (MS ELP) standards, how they apply to the Mississippi College and Career Readiness (MS CCR) standards, and how to use ELPA21 score report information to guide decision making and instruction.
Educators will be provided with strategies, essential knowledge and skills, understanding of the English language proficiency levels and multiple EL specific resources (valued at $150). The follow-up Model to Mastery virtual sessions will focus on the implementation of the instructional resources for optimum outcomes.
