Elementary teachers and principals: Register by June 5 for Computer Science Summer Institute

The Mississippi Department of Education and Center for Cyber Education at Mississippi State University will host the second annual Elementary Computer Science Summer Institute in June 2023 at various locations across the state. Registration deadline is June 5.

The Summer Institute is a two-day in-person training designed for elementary teachers, teacher assistants, counselors, or librarians that will be teaching computer science in the 2023-24 school year. In this training, elementary educators will review the Mississippi College-and Career-Readiness Standards for Computer Science to better understand the skills that need to be taught at each grade level. Participants will also examine cross-curricular connections between computer science and other content areas, explore ways to integrate computer science instruction, model computer science lessons, and practice coding and robotic skills. Elementary principals are also invited to attend sessions on computer science implementation. Seating is limited, so register today using the links below.
