In session one, the guest speaker, Dr. Julie James, introduced the foundations of the MS CCRS, also known as the Instructional Shifts of Mathematics.

In session two, Amy Pinkerton, the Math K-6 Professional Development Coordinator (PDC), will provide a deeper look into the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach to mathematics instruction. She will demonstrate how this approach builds conceptual understanding, procedural fluency and other key components identified within the Instructional Shifts of Mathematics.
