Free Rise Above Traveling Exhibit Oct. 11-15 shares history of Tuskegee Airmen, Women’s Air Force Service Pilots

The Southern Heritage Air Foundation and the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport will host the Rise Above Traveling Exhibit, featuring the Tuskegee Airmen and the Women’s Air Force Service Pilots, Oct. 11-15 at the airport in Tallulah, LA. This educational event is free and for all ages.

The CAF Rise Above Squadron (formerly known as the CAF Red Tail Squadron) is a three-fold educational outreach program that brings the history  and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and Women Airforce Service Pilots  (WASP) to life in communities and classrooms everywhere. What the  Tuskegee Airmen and WASP had in common – and what made them ultimately succeed – was the ability to recognize that all of the obstacles they  faced could be overcome with hard work and dedication. The timeless lessons they teach us about perseverance and courage are just as  applicable today as they were in the 1940s.

Due to limited daily seating, reservations are required.

Schools will have the opportunity to pre-schedule visits to come at scheduled times during the week. Groups, families and any interested in seeing the exhibit can pre-schedule a time on the weekend.   The program lasts roughly 30 – 40 minutes to present and will be offered at no charge to all who pre-schedule a time to come and view the Exhibit.  The traveling exhibit seats 40 people in the theater.

During the same date of the exhibit, the Southern Heritage Air Foundation will host its Annual Warbird Formation Clinic, giving attendees an opportunity to possible see the Warbirds take off, fly and land.  Flying in formation is a an effective way to showcase NATA aircraft  at public events and airshows. The public gains an appreciation for the way the aircraft were flown when they were still being flown by  military pilots. Flying formation is also very rewarding for pilots and is a fun way to enjoy your warbird. Formation flying also requires  discipline and skill, and should not be attempted without proper  training.
