Family Engagement Professional Development Sessions

The MDE, through the Office of Early Childhood, is offering a series of four free webinars My Pleasure: Creating a Remarkable School Culture for Serving Families. This energetic and inspiring series will be presented in four parts.  Each 1 hour 40-minute Microsoft TEAMS webinar will feature school customer service practices districts, schools, and centers can implement to develop, improve, and sustain a school culture that lends to providing optimal service to families.

 This webinar series is available to ALL birth-young adult providers, administrators, center directors, family/parent liaisons, Head Start and childcare providers. Participants are encouraged to attend all four but may attend any combination of sessions that suit their professional development needs and schedule. Participants attending all four sessions may earn .6 CEUS or 5 SEMIs. Contact hours can be obtained by attending one or more sessions.

There are four (4) upcoming webinars in the series.  Each webinar session can accommodate up to 75 participants and is 1 hour and 40 minutes in duration.  Registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis at https://gsmu.mdek12.org/public/course/browse.  Registrants will need to verify that they are registering for the correct time and date, as multiple offerings will appear in the GoSignMeUp course listing page.  A Microsoft TEAMS Meeting invitation will be emailed to all registered participants.  A brief description of each session, training dates, and times are listed below.

Part 1: The Essence of Remarkable Culture (1 hour 40 minutes)

Participants will explore organizational culture, how to avoid a toxic culture, and establishing guiding principles for their organization.

Part 2: Building a Team that Creates Remarkable Culture (1 hour 40 minutes)

Participants will learn qualities to look for when selecting team members, the importance of excellent onboarding practice, and sustaining talent on your team.

Part 3: Growing a Remarkable Culture Among Your Team (1 hour 40 minutes)

Participants will explore the difference between team commitment versus team compliance, servant leadership, mentoring, and encouraging the dreams and goals of team members.

Part 4: Engaging Families in a Remarkable Culture (1 hour 40 minutes)

Participants will learn strategies to make meaningful connections to students and families, treating all “customers” with dignity and respect, and wildly exceeding families’ expectations!
