The William Winter and Jack Reed Teacher Loan Repayment Program is available. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 15, 2022, but awards will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
The program was created last year by the Legislature to help new traditional route teachers repay their undergraduate student loans. First-year teachers holding a valid five-year Mississippi educator’s license are eligible to apply as new recipients, but this year’s first-time recipients may apply as renewal recipients. Applicants must work full-time as a teacher or librarian in a Mississippi public school district. Loan repayment for teachers in critical shortage areas begins at $4,000/year, and loan repayment for all other districts begins at $1,500/year.
The online application for the 2022-2023 academic year, along with program requirements, can be found at www.msfinancialaid.org/wrtr.
