Virtual Literacy Guide and Webinar for K-5 Teachers

The Office of Elementary Education and Reading, Division of Literacy, in collaboration with Barksdale Reading Institute (BRI) has developed a Virtual Literacy Instruction Guide for Kindergarten through Grade 5 Teachers. This resource includes a checklist for virtual instruction, a sample virtual literacy schedule, and an example weekly lesson plan using a free, high-quality, standards-aligned, open-educational resource.  To access this guidance document visit: www.mdek12.org/literacy  > Updates for 2020-21 School Year.

In addition, we will offer an informative webinar to support the implementation of virtual literacy instruction. During the webinar, participants will review a virtual literacy planning checklist and explore a detailed sample schedule for both synchronous and asynchronous literacy instruction. This webinar will also provide information and video models on how to utilize High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) along with other digital platforms to support virtual instruction.
