The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry will host a five-day enrichment program for 6th-8th graders June 5-9 called Shaping Minds to Inspire, Lead and Explore (S.M.I.L.E. U). Registration deadline is Feb. 10.
The program was created to engage students who may have an interest in dentistry and aspire to gain fundamental skills and knowledge of how to become a dentist and/or a dental hygienist. The five-day program will expose and educate students on the essential tasks and functions of the dental field, with the hope of sparking their interest in dentistry as a possible career choice.
In addition to the dental components, participants will receive CPR certification, learn financial literacy, and participate in STEM enrichment.
Students can visit umc.edu/sod/SMILE-U to apply. See flyers for details.
