Teens can submit to Scholastic Writing Awards

The Scholastic Writing Awards are open for teen submissions through portal.artandwriting.org until Dec. 31.

Who: Mississippi teens in grades 7-12

What: Enter your best writing in the Mississippi Regional Scholastic Writing Awards for a chance of statewide and national recognition and scholarships.  Regional winners go on to compete nationally with some of the most talented young writers in the country.  An awards ceremony is planned for Sunday afternoon, April 12, 2026, on the front lawn of the Eudora Welty Home & Garden. Participants are also invited to participate in the McMullan Young Writers Workshop at Millsaps College in the summer.  The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.  Check them out here artandwriting.org

When/Where:  Students must submit electronic copies of their work in their student accounts, certify parent/guardian permission online, and make payments by 10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.  Payment instructions are online at the regional webpage here: artandwriting.org/regions/MS001W

How: Teachers and students should create an account or login using previous credentials at portal.artandwriting.org  (If you don’t remember your password, just follow the password reset instructions and click the link which will be emailed to you.).  Please make sure your contact info is up-to-date in the portal.
