The 2023-2024 cohorts for AIM Institute for Learning and Research’s Pathways Professional Development courses are available. AIM Pathways professional development will assist K-5 general education teachers, reading interventionist, K-8 special education teachers, and leaders in furthering their ability to apply the Science of Reading, while supporting Mississippi’s mission to prepare students to compete in a global community. AIM Pathways will offer four courses that are customized for Mississippi teachers and leaders that include asynchronous learning as well as two in-person training sessions with experienced AIM facilitators.

- Pathways to Structured Literacy is a comprehensive professional development experience focusing on diagnostic and prescriptive literacy instruction. Participants will learn components of a complete Structured Literacy lesson. This International Dyslexia Association (IDA) accredited online offering is for educators who have completed Pathways to Proficient Reading or Pathways to Literacy Leadership are interested in enhancing their practice in an Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)/ Response to Intervention (RTI) framework.

- Pathways to Proficient Writing is a professional development experience focused on best practices for writing instruction. Grounded in writing research including The Writing Cycle and the Not-So-Simple View of Writing. The approaches benefit all students, including linguistically diverse populations and those with language-based learning disabilities. Pathways to Proficient Reading – Teacher’s Next Step Literacy Training for Classroom Application – 2023-2024 runs September 2023- March 2024
Take the next step in your literacy training with AIM Pathways to Proficient Reading to transfer your knowledge into classroom practice. This 52-hour tailored course, through North MS Education Consortium (NMEC), provides teachers with downloadable classroom resources, tools, and supports to apply and implement explicit literacy instruction into classroom practice. This course includes asynchronous online training and two in-person sessions to support strong, proficient readers through the Science of Reading.
Teacher participants will:
- Acquire knowledge through hundreds of learning tools including articles, teacher classroom videos, animations, and videos of experts in the field in 14 asynchronous learning sections.
- Practice with specially-designed interactive activities and downloadable resources to help them translate their new knowledge into instructional practice.
- Demonstrate understanding of the content by applying their new knowledge to real life classroom scenarios via multi-step student case studies.
- Benefit from in-person and virtual coaching sessions with AIM facilitators to support knowledge acquisition and classroom implementation.
- Receive 5.2 CEUs, 40 SEMIs, or 4 OSLs upon course completion.
- Be eligiblefor 3 graduate credits through Arcadia University for successful completion of the course.
- Have access to the online course for 12 months to review and refer to for continued implementation support.

Pathways to Literacy Leadership– Educational Leaders Next Steps for the Development and Implementation of a Literacy Plan – 2023-2024 Course runs September 2023- March 2024
Take the next step in your literacy training with AIM Pathways to Literacy Leadership and create and implement a literacy plan in your school. This 42-hour tailored hybrid course, through North MS Education Consortium (NMEC), is designed specifically for education leaders and is grounded in implementation science. Participants will learn how to advance literacy evidence-based instruction into all classrooms with asynchronous online coursework that is supported by two Virtual Community of Practice Sessions and two in-person sessions where you will build and customize a literacy plan for your school. Become a literacy leader and support your teachers as they implement their literacy practice to support strong, proficient readers through the Science of Reading.
