To Counselor and/or Program Coordinator,
The 2024 STAR Education Celebration event and timeline information has been released. The event will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl, Mississippi. The STAR Student, STAR Teacher along with their family and friends will have an opportunity to celebrate this momentous occasion.
In preparation for the 2024 STAR Education Celebration, you are urged to meet with seniors as soon as possible to discuss the STAR Student requirements. Please emphasize that the ACT must be taken before Dec. 31 and only scores on file in the school office will be considered in the STAR Student selection. Please do not notify students or make any advance announcements confirming your STAR Student until you receive notice from our office. After we receive your STAR application, and the grades are certified you will receive a notice in writing.
Selection of STAR Student
The student must have an ACT score of at least 25 and an overall average of 93 or above in selected subjects in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and first-semester 12thgrades. Only permanent record label ACT scores on file in the high school office are to be considered. We cannot process your application without the documentation below. Please do not add extra points for Dual Enrollment classes. We will not use ACT Super Scores for the selection of the STAR Student.
Your package MUST include the following documents:
*STAR Student Biographical Information Form (complete numerical grade column(s) – 2 semesters or 1 unit complete both columns and list final grade twice.
*One semester or one-half unit list final grade once.
*Please submit 9th – 12th grade completed coursework listed on your STAR form along with the high school transcript. If the 12th grade is not listed on the high school transcript, please submit a report card to verify 12 grade coursework.
*Permanent record label ACT scores.
*STAR Student Grade and Photo Release Form
*STAR Teacher Photo Release Form
*Photos of both STAR Student and STAR Teacher
