06-11-2020 Memo – Senate HELP Committee Hearing on Reopening K-12 Schools Safely

Yesterday Nebraska Commissioner Matt Blomstedt and Tennessee Commissioner Penny Schwinn testified at a Senate HELP Committee hearing, COVID-19: Going Back to School Safely.  A memo summarizing the hearing is attached. The hearing also was covered in the New York Times, among other media outlets. Also, today the U.S. Department of Education added state applications to the CARES Act Education Stabilization Fund to its website for both the GEER and ESSER funds.
