The Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had, and continues to have, a major health impact on schools across the Nation. The Office of Healthy Schools has designated $1,600,000 to provide School Nurses throughout the state. These nurses will coordinate a health services program including nursing care, health education to students/staff, and other services as deemed appropriate. Funds were made available by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The Act provides funding to Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) through Section 18003 of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund, to address the impact of COVID-19 on elementary and secondary schools. LEAs are encouraged to apply for this grant opportunity through the Request for Proposal (RFP) process located at https://www.mdek12.org/PN/RFP.
