The Mississippi State Fairgrounds, a branch of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce (MDAC), invites school marching bands from across the state to join the inaugural Most Patriotic Band Competition during the 2025 Mississippi Great American State Fair, October 2–13.
Bands can perform a patriotic concert at the fair’s Liberty Landing for a chance to win a custom trophy and bragging rights. The winner will be determined by the most Facebook likes on their livestreamed performance. Performances must include at least two patriotic songs and last 15-30 minutes. To participate, contact Fairgrounds Deputy Director Justin Nipper at justin@mdac.ms.gov.
Bands are also welcome to join the Great American Parade on Monday, October 13, at 9:30 a.m. as spectators from all over turn out for the Grand Finale of patriotic celebrations in honor of America250. Parade participants will be eligible for First, Second and Third Place awards.
