The Mississippi Department of Transportation invites your K-8 teachers to attend RIDES Math and Science Training during June 2017. The two-day hands-on training is designed to improve Math and Science Instruction by utilizing activities with a transportation theme.
Teachers will receive lesson plans, resources to complete the activities and lunch both days. There is no cost to the district other than travel to training, and teachers can purchase 1.5 CEU credits for $15. As you will see from the attached application, three trainings will take place throughout the state during the month of June 2017.
RIDES (Roadways In Developing Elementary Students) is aligned with National Math and Science Standards, Mississippi Frameworks for Math and Science, and the College and Career Ready Standards for Mathematics. The program has served 2,235 teachers in the state since 2004.
If you have teachers who would like to attend the training, please have them submit their application. Due to the demand for the training, we only accept teachers one time for this training, and teachers are accepted on a first-come basis.
Applications must be mailed to: Linda Clifton, 100 Parkwood Garden, Booneville, MS 38829.
