Registration open for 2026 National Science Bowl

Registration is open for the National Science Bowl® (NSB), which is managed by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science and is one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious academic science competitions. Established in 1991, its mission is to encourage student excellence in mathematics and science and promote careers in these critical fields. The competition tests students’ knowledge in a fast-paced, buzzer-based quiz format across all branches of science and math, including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and mathematics.

Participation offers a high-level academic challenge, promotes teamwork, and provides an excellent opportunity to showcase skills to future colleges and universities.

  • Regional Winners: Championship teams from each regional competition receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the National Finals.
  • National Prizes: The National Finals are a multi-day event that includes science activities, sightseeing, and a chance to win significant prizes.
