Registration is open for Enhancing Instructional Leadership: The Science of Reading and Effective Learning Walk Protocols

The Mississippi Department of Education’s Division of Literacy announces registration is open for the asynchronous course Enhancing Instructional Leadership: The Science of Reading and Effective Learning Walk Protocols.”

This course equips school leaders with the tools and knowledge to observe and support evidence-based literacy instruction using the MDE K-3 Learning Walk Protocol, focusing on Science of Reading practices like structured literacy, instructional strategies, classroom environment, HQIM, writing instruction, and small group literacy stations.

Participants will develop a strong understanding of the Science of Reading and how to use observational tools to improve classroom literacy teaching.

The course is offered in three 10-week sessions starting September 2025, December 2025, and March 2026.
