The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Office of Student Assessment (OSA) is seeking a list of qualified participants for a MAAP ELA and Math; MAAP-A Alternate ELA, and Alternate Math and Alternate Science Content and Bias Review June 8-9. Deadline to complete an interest survey is Tuesday, April 26, at 4 p.m.
This Content and Bias Review Workshop will be for English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and Special Education teachers. Participants will be chosen based on experience in the following content areas: English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics Teachers (Grades 3-8 ELA, Grades 3-8 Mathematics, Algebra I, and English II) and MAAP-A Alternate English Language Arts (ELA), Alternate Mathematics, and Alternate Science Teachers.
The purpose of the committee is to review the newly developed items to determine their standards alignment and quality. Specifically, committees will confirm appropriateness of items for the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program and will review the newly developed items for potential sources of bias, sensitivity issues, and gender or cultural stereotypes.
Participants MUST
- Have a valid license and an appropriate endorsement in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, or Special Education.
- Be employed by a Mississippi Public School District.
- Be present both days.
Travel (including lodging if you live more than 75 miles from Jackson, Mississippi) and substitute teacher reimbursement or stipend will be covered by Questar Assessments, Inc.
