P-16 Community Engagement Council Overview Webinar and Regional Trainings

The Office of School Improvement is pleased to announce three (3) half-day regional trainings on Building Effective P-16 Community Engagement Councils for schools designated as D or F for the 2019-20 school year.  The morning session is for schools/districts new to the process or in the beginning stages of implementation.  This session will provide participants with the purpose and guidelines for establishing a community engagement council.  The afternoon session is for schools that are farther along with the implementation of this process and that are seeking to explore strategies on effective communication and establishing group cohesion, which makes collaboration and group meetings more effective.  Participants will also gain knowledge on building internal capacity for supporting the council once it has been established.  Districts are asked to select one individual directly responsible for guiding the school(s)/district with the implementation of P-16 Council to attend this training session.

The establishment of P-16 Councils is required by MS Code 37-18-5(4) and Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards (Process Standard 12).
