Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science’s free online enrichment program, Full STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Ahead, is bringing back virtual math activities for 1st-6th graders beginning October 6.
MSMS students and faculty are hosting the weekly series, Math-All Stars, at 8:20 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. on Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3. For those unable to attend the live sessions, teachers and parents can lead their students through the worksheets anytime between Oct. 4-Nov. 5. Explanation video links will be provided to complete the activity.
The activities are designed to accommodate classes as well as individual students. Instructors and parents can register for one of the following weekly activity categories:
- Group X: Counting within 1000, addition and subtraction within 100
- Group Y:Operations with whole numbers, understanding angles
- Group Z:Operations with fractions, decimals, and integers including exponents
To participate, students need a device (computer, iPad, smart phone, etc.), reliable internet access, and access to a printer. After signing up, printable worksheets and answer keys will be sent to every participant. To register, visit www.themsms.org/programs-camps/online.
