MSDH Reporting Requirements for COVID-19

Dear School Superintendent/Administrator/Principal/Educator,

As many schools have returned with on-campus classes, we have already seen a significant impact from cases of COVID-19 among teachers, staff and students. In order to have awareness of and provide guidance around your school and school district’s current status, we are asking schools to report to the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) on a weekly basis as was done last school year. The report captures data from the previous week of school. As a reminder, the Health Officer’s Order requiring weekly reporting of the number of outbreaks and the numbers of cases and quarantined students, teachers and staff on a weekly basis remains in effect 10260.pdf (ms.gov)

The report provides MSDH with weekly information on the number of cases, outbreaks, and quarantined teachers, staff and students. We are asking schools to report cases and those on quarantine regardless of where they may have been exposed.  This allows MSDH to have visibility of the full scope of the impact of COVID-19 on the school setting to further direct public health interventions. This school year are also asking about the school/school district’s mask policies.

We ask that you report these data no later than 5 p.m. each Monday.  The reporting link was emailed to superintendents and principals with this announcement on August 16. If you have questions about reporting, please send an email to COVIDSchoolReporting@msdh.ms.gov or call 601-576-7725.
