The Mississippi School Safety Summit is set from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl, Mississippi.
The Rankin County School District is presenting the event in association with the MississippiĀ Association of Secondary School Principals, Mississippi Department of Education, Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, Mississippi Association of School Administrators, Mississippi Association of School Superintendents and Mississippi Professional Educators.
Attendees will hear from Max Schachter, a national school safety advocate, whose son, Alex, was one of 17 victims murdered in the Parkland school shooting on Valentine’s Day in 2018. Schachter is the founder and executive director of Safe Schools for Alex. The organization’s mission is to provide the most current school safety best practices and resources to students, parents, school districts and law enforcement so that all children can learn in a safe environment.
The summit is open to all educators and safety personnel. To learn more and to register, see the event flyer here – School Safety Summit Poster 6.
