School districts will be receiving free copies of the inaugural issue of Mississippi Works magazine. The State Workforce Investment Board in the Office of the Governor and publishing partner ABPG produced the publication in cooperation with the Mississippi Department of Education. The objective is to publish an annual resource guide for secondary school students that focuses on education about high-demand career opportunities here in Mississippi.
Free copies of this publication will be delivered directly to your schools this month. These should be delivered to every 8th, 11th and 12th grade student in your district. My office has supplied SWIB with the number of students you have in each of these grades based on the number of 7th, 10th and 11th graders your district had in the 2018-19 school year. Delivery instructions will be attached to the boxes, which will be sent to the attention of the lead guidance counselor.
If for some reason your principals or guidance counselors have not received copies by October 30, please call Dana Wade at (501) 372-1443 ormailto:firstname.lastname@example.org.
We encourage educators and counselors to be involved in helping students use the magazine.
The magazine’s publisher, Rachel Pitre, is eager to hear your feedback. If there is content you want to see included in future editions of the publication, please correspond with Rachel directly at Rachel@abpg.com or via telephone at (501) 372-1443.
Input from you, the students, CTE counselors and guidance counselors will be important for the development of the next edition.
Thank you for your support and assistance in distributing this useful career publication.
