Mississippi students can soar with STEM Next Flight Crew; Apply by March 12

Mississippi’s young STEM enthusiasts have a unique opportunity to take their passion to new heights with the STEM Next Flight Crew program. Teachers and afterschool program providers play a crucial role in encouraging students to apply. The deadline to apply for the STEM Next Flight Crew is March 12.

This national initiative offers students a chance to engage in exciting STEM experiences, connect with industry professionals, and develop valuable skills for the future. And, thanks to the success of a Mississippi student last year, the program is gaining momentum in the state.

Last year, Raina from Jackson, Mississippi earned a spot in the prestigious STEM Next Flight Crew. She joined students from across the country in a cohort event in the summer receiving recognition from NASA, The National STEM Festival, SXSW EDU and more.

Raina spoke on how she was encouraged to apply for the Flight Crew and what led to her success. “Through an afterschool engineering program, I learned about sustainable design principles. Applying these concepts to a school-wide project, I collaborated with classmates to create eco-friendly solutions, showcasing the real-world applications of STEM in addressing environmental changes,” shares Raina.

The STEM Next Flight Crew isn’t just about fun and games; it’s about fostering the next generation of STEM leaders. Participating students gain valuable skills to:

  • Marketing their work to inspire others
  • Explore diverse STEM careers
  • Build a network of mentors and peers.

This program can truly ignite a student’s passion for STEM and open doors to future opportunities.
