A partner with the Mississippi Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, First Book is a non-profit organization that provides new books and educational resources – for free or at low cost – to schools and programs serving children in need, from birth to 18.
Individuals serving low-income children in any community in Mississippi through schools, faith-based organizations, community centers or out-of-school program providers, hospitals/clinics, shelters, and more can sign up for a free account to peruse the free or low-cost materials available through First Book.
First Book’s National Book Bank has a variety of free books available that only requires the individual or organization to pay shipping costs (about 55 cents per book). First Book’s Marketplace has current, diverse titles available at significantly reduced rates for purchase, along with supplies, and basic need items, as well as other activities/resources that are free to users.
The MS Campaign for Grade-Level Reading seeks 2,000 registrants per region, North, Central, and South Mississippi, in order for First Book to send an 18-wheeler full of 40,000 books for children in need to each region – For Free.
