MDE conference June 11-12 supports staff with at-risk students

The Mississippi Department of Education’s Office of Compulsory School Attendance and Dropout Prevention will host the Finding the Road to Success conference June 11-12 at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to support staff who work with at-risk students.

This conference will help attendees identify at-risk students before they fail or drop out of school and provide ready-to-use navigational tools to assist students in finding their individual road to success.

A team of five from each school district (for example: Point of contact(s) for each of the following areas: Alternative Education, Foster Care and Dropout Prevention; a School Counselor; and a District Administrator) is asked to attend the conference. In addition, School Attendance Officers, Child Protective Services, and the Point of Contact(s) for the Juvenile Detention Centers are also encouraged to attend.

Join enlightening sessions tailored specifically for working with high-risk families. Discover the keys to unlocking student potential and paving the way for success in the classroom and beyond.  Sessions will include:

  • Innovative strategies for identifying and engaging at-risk students
  • Empowering at-risk students for lifelong learning
  • Building resilience and growth mindset
  • Fostering a supportive environment for educational staff and students
