Please see the important information shared last week with Special Education Directors.
As the opening of the Mississippi Academic Achievement Program-Alternate (MAAP-A) assessment window approaches, The Office of Student Assessment (OSA) and the Office of Special Education (OSE) would like to provide some additional clarification regarding the MAAP-A.
- All students that had the SCD indicator selected in MSIS were given Pre-ID files by Questar. However, students can only participate in End-of-Course (EOC) MAAP-A assessments if the student was enrolled in the course prior to January 21, 2021.
- If a student that meets the criteria for SCD does participate in an EOC MAAP-A assessment but was not enrolled in the course as described above, that student will have to take the assessment in the year/semester he or she is enrolled in the course.
- Students that meet the criteria for SCD who participate in an EOC MAAP-A assessment in the 2020-2021 school year and are enrolled in the course will not be required to meet a minimum score on the assessment to meet the graduation requirement for earning the Alternate Diploma.
- Students that met the criteria for SCD and were scheduled to participate in an EOC MAAP-A assessment in the Spring of 2020, will have those assessments waived. Those assessments that were waived will count toward the requirements for earning the Alternate Diploma and the student will not have to participate in that assessment at a later date.
