K-5 students can win award, receive USM sporting event tickets; Deadline is May 5

The Stars of Honor program is partnering with Southern Miss Athletics to provide complimentary tickets to a Southern Miss sporting event for K-5 students chosen to win the Stars of Honor award by their elementary schools.  May 5 is the deadline for elementary schools to indicate their willingness to participate.

Schools are asked to select winners of the award because of their hard work in the classroom, kindness to others, and commitment to leading healthy lifestyles.  The Stars of Honor program does not cost schools or families anything, instead, it is designed to be a free way for schools to incentivize students to work hard and be good to others.

All elementary schools need to do is email Trevor Taylor at trevor@starsofhonor.com to confirm they would like to participate.  Taylor will then send award notification sheets for the school to give to a designated number of winning students.  The award notification sheets that elementary schools send home with winning students provide instructions to parents about how to RSVP for their complimentary tickets, as well as details about the game day experience.

When winning students attend their designated game, they receive a certificate to commemorate their accomplishment, fun photo opportunities (typically with a mascot, cheerleaders, old trophies, and/or a media backdrop), and an ovation from the crowd during a timeout.  These elements not only make it a special experience for the kids, but also reward them for working hard.  Winning elementary school students, many of whom are winning an award for the first time, have an experience on a college campus they’ll never forget.

To participate, elementary schools around Mississippi should email Trevor Taylor at trevor@starsofhonor.com  by May 5 to indicate their willingness to participate. Later, award notification sheets will be provided to a designated number of K-5 winners from each school.
