WORKSHOP TITLE: Project WILD: Hunting Techniques

Monday, July 12, 2021
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

CEU VALUE: .6 CEUs from Mississippi College

COST: $25.00 non-refundable pre-registration fee

DESCRIPTION:  Project WILD is an interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife that is designed for educators of kindergarten through twelfth grade. It capitalizes on the natural interest that children and adults have in wildlife by providing hands-on activities that enhance all subject and skill areas and by addressing the need for human beings to develop as responsible citizens of our planet. In this workshop, we will explore the wild through Hunter’s Education & explore Native American hunting techniques with guidance from the Choctaw Wildlife and Parks Department.

OF NOTE: Please bring your lunch and a reusable water bottle. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for the weather as we will be outside for some activities. Space is limited.  Masks and social distancing required.

WORKSHOP TITLE:  Getting Little Feet Wet: Summer Fun

CEU VALUE: .5 CEUs from Mississippi College

COST: $25.00 non-refundable pre-registration fee

DESCRIPTION:  For this workshop, we will be using the new Project Wet curriculum “Getting Little Feet Wet.” This workshop and curriculum are specifically created to help young children learn about the science of water in our bodies and the environment. The focus of this workshop is on indoor and outdoor water activities that are compatible with most classroom settings. While this curriculum is designed for teachers PreK-2nd grade all educators are welcome.

OF NOTE:  Please bring your lunch and a reusable water bottle. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing that can get a little wet. We will be on the museum’s trails for a few activities, weather permitting. Masks and social distancing required.

 WORKSHOP TITLE: Project WET: Streams

Wednesday, July 14, 2021
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

CEU VALUE: .6 CEUs from Mississippi College

COST: $25.00 non-refundable pre-registration fee

DESCRIPTION: Project WET is designed for kindergarten to twelfth grade. Activities promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills and help provide young people with the knowledge and experience they will need to make prudent decisions regarding water resource use. In this workshop, the Adopt a Stream State Director will be here to share stream fun!

WORKSHOP TITLE: Animal Architects: A STEAM Workshop

DESCRIPTION: Join us as we learn about the ways animals work with the surrounding environment to build nests, burrows, mounds, or stacked homes, while becoming inspired to undertake a classroom STEAM construction challenge.

DESCRIPTION:  Do you want to connect your students to nature, but don’t know where to start?  The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science can help you with that! Join us for our Wild Nature Art Workshop where our naturalists will guide you in discovering some of the mysteries of the natural world in a playful way to celebrate summer, while making your own piece of summer art.
