The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), through the Office of Elementary Education and Reading, is seeking written applications by 2 p.m. Nov. 19 from public school districts to provide grant awards to districts to assist with providing access to High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) from the adopted instructional materials list (https://msinstructionalmaterials.org/adopted-materials/) in Reading Foundational Skills, English language arts (ELA), and/or Mathematics and provide professional development to support the use of the adopted HQIM.
Applicants receiving an award are responsible for utilizing these funds to carry out activities that advance student achievement and support student success, including but not limited to:
- Adopting Instructional Material for ELA and/or Math focused specifically to addressing the unique needs of low-income children or students, children with disabilities, English learners, racial and ethnic minorities, students experiencing homelessness, and foster care youth.
- Summer learning and supplemental afterschool programs aligned to the adopted material HQIM.
- Professional Development and/or coaching supports aligned specifically to the HQIM and the corresponding content area.
