High schools can apply for grants to aid football programs through Friday Night 5G Lights program

Schools are invited to apply for grants to cover building upgrades via the Friday Night 5G Lights, a nationwide initiative by T-Mobile.

The program is aimed at revitalizing high school football programs in small towns across the United States and offers substantial grants and technological upgrades to participating schools, fostering community spirit and enhancing the game-day experience.

In the 2024 season, over 1,700 high schools from all 50 states entered the competition. T-Mobile awarded $5,000 to 300 schools through its “$5K Fridays” sweepstakes and selected 16 finalists, each receiving $25,000. The grand prize winner, Inola High School in Oklahoma, secured a $2 million stadium makeover, which included a $100,000 grant, a new scoreboard, 5G network enhancements, an upgraded weight room from GronkFitness.com, and a community tailgate celebration featuring a 5G-powered drone show.

The competition emphasizes community involvement, with finalists encouraged to rally support through social media to win the grand prize. T-Mobile has committed to continuing the Friday Night 5G Lights program in 2025 and beyond, reinforcing its dedication to supporting small-town America.
