Are you an ELA teacher in grades K-12? Has your school/district adopted myView (grades K-5) or myPerspectives (grades 6-12) as its high-quality instructional material (HQIM)? If you answered YES to these questions, then THIS is the training for you!
The MDE’s Office of Elementary Education and Reading and Office of Professional Development are excited to announce this opportunity for K-12 ELA teachers—a 1-day, in-person professional development training that will explore the relationship between high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), the Science of Reading (SoR), and the Structured Literacy Approach to instruction. After an initial examination of HQIM and the SoR, focused breakout sessions will provide a deep dive into the instructional routines and planning and preparation of the following HQIMs: myView (grades K-5) and myPerspectives (grades 6-12). Participants will learn how to annotate lessons effectively and will analyze a sample lesson closely to understand the process of transitioning from planning to preparing for instruction.
Note: Participants should bring a myView (grades K-5) or myPerspectives (grades 6-12) teacher’s edition and accompanying materials needed to plan. Participants also should bring a laptop.
