The Mississippi Department of Education is pleased to offer Middle and Secondary Supports for English Learners Video Series an online and on demand professional development opportunity to support middle and secondary teachers who work with English learners (ELs). The training is a series of twelve video sessions that can be adapted to fit your school’s specific needs and used during professional learning community meeting times.
This in-depth training is geared towards middle and secondary content teachers, special education teachers, and interventionists as they strive to meet the needs of English learner students. It provides participants with valuable information to help them understand English learner students and practical applications of strategies to support growth in both English language and in content area subjects.
An administrator/PLC leader guide is also provided that gives information on:
· multiple options for completing the sessions,
· a sample agenda with estimated times for sessions and links to the videos, and
· a PLC discussion activity to guide discussions around the video topics.
Additional information is also provided to leaders with required steps for setting up CEUs.
Please contact Sandy Elliott (selliott@mdek12.org) if you have any questions regarding this online professional development opportunity.
