Educators are invited to join the Center for Mathematics & Science Education (CMSE) Middle Math Institutes this summer. The Institutes are designed to empower educators in grades 6–8 to dissect, understand, and connect the mathematics they teach every day. Through engaging, content-rich experiences, participants will build a strong conceptual foundation across all middle-grade math domains while learning how to connect new concepts to students’ prior knowledge.
Educators will explore effective, research-based strategies to actively engage students and strengthen mathematical thinking in the classroom.
Why Participate?
- Earn a total of 9.6 CEUs.
- Gain deep, conceptual understanding of middle grades mathematics
- Strengthen instructional practices and student engagement
- Complete all four institutes to apply for a Supplemental Endorsement in Middle-Level Mathematics (Code 901)
The Program Includes Four Institutes:
- Number System, Ratios & Proportions – Build coherence from computation to real-world application
- Date: June 8-11, 2026
- Expressions, Equations & Functions – Bridge concrete understanding to abstract thinking
- Date: June 15-18, 2026
- Geometry – Apply measurement and explore essential geometric concepts
- Date: June 22-25, 2026
- Statistics & Probability – Develop statistical reasoning and data literacy
- Date: June 29 – July 2, 2026
