The Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards (MS CCRS) for Mathematics and English Language Arts were approved by the State Board on March 20, 2025, and will take effect in the 2025-2026 school year. As part of this transition, the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) is retiring the Scaffolding Documents and introducing a new resource: the 2025 MS CCRS Navigator: Comprehensive Support for Instructional Preparation. This updated resource will replace the Scaffolding Documents and offer a more streamlined, clear, and actionable framework for preparing instruction aligned with the new standards.
The MDE invites educators to review the 2016 Scaffolding Documents for their grade level(s) and provide feedback to help ensure that the new Navigator addresses key instructional components effectively, is free from content gaps, and is aligned with the updated standards. The feedback areas are as follows:
- Prerequisite Knowledge – What prior skills and knowledge should students have to engage with the standard?
- Conceptual Understanding – What key concepts and connections should students deeply understand?
- Evidence of Knowledge – What should students be able to do to demonstrate mastery?
- Essential Academic Vocabulary – What key terms and language are necessary for students to grasp and apply?
