Early Childhood Conference July 22 – 25, 2019

We encourage you to register for the Annual Mississippi Early Childhood Education Conference Monday, July 22, 2019 – Thursday, July 25, 2019 in Natchez, MS.  This opportunity is a collaborative partnership between the Mississippi Department of Education Office of Early Childhood, Mississippi Head Start Collaboration Office, Mississippi Head Start Association, and the Mississippi Department of Human Services.  Child care teachers and directors, the Mississippi Head Start staff, school district teachers and administrators, advocates from all early childhood education communities and community leaders invested in early childhood are encouraged to attend.

The keynote speaker, Steven Pemberton, the author of A Chance in the World: An Orphan Boy, A Mysterious Past, and How He Found a Place Called Home will present on Monday, July 22, 2019.

Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning sessions such as a lunch-n-learn Stepping into STEM, make-n-take sessions as participants rotate through A Day in the Early Childhood Classroom, and A Day in the Infant/Toddler World.

Registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis at www.msheadstart.org 

 CEUs are included in the price of registration. Participants can receive up to 22 contact hours or up to 2.2 CEUs for attending this conference.

This event is being funded with state and/or federal funds and is being provided for employees of school districts, employees of the Mississippi Department of Education and Department contractors.  Mississippi Constitution Article 4, Section 66 prohibits governing authorities from making donations.  According to the Mississippi Attorney General, once the federal funds are turned over to the state, the rules for the expenditure of state funds apply.  Based on the Mississippi law, this event is not being provided for third party vendors or external providers.
