The cost for the 2023 Summer Intensive program at Mississippi College has been finalized. The registration deadline for this program is Friday, May 19.
The registration fee for this summer is $250. If you take all four courses within the summer intensive (June 19 – July 19), you will receive a 40% discount on tuition. The total cost of the program, including the tuition discount and the registration fee, is $5.384. There are no other fees associated with this program*. The discount will be applied to your student account on the first day of class.
*The graduate application fee is currently being waived. ($35 savings)
MC does not currently offer any financial assistance for this program. However, some students are eligible for federal assistance through financial aid. Also, we have seen many past (educator) participants in this program succeed in negotiating a cost-sharing agreement with their school district.
Prior to this deadline, you must:
- Complete an application and be accepted into the university
- Complete all course/program registration paperwork
MC can process your application in one to two weeks. However, admissions requires your transcripts from previous schools and we’ve found that this can cause delay depending upon the school. MC recommends starting this process as soon as possible. Please contact Abby Franklin in Graduate Admissions (ahfranklin@mc.edu) with any questions to complete the application.
The course schedule is below:
- MLG 451/5451 Second Language Acquisition | June 19 – 23
- MLG 452/5452 Applied Linguistics | June 26 – 30
- MLG 450/5450 The Multicultural Classroom | July 3 – 7
- MLG 453/5453 Methods and Field Studies | July 10 – 19
All courses are conducted in a remote-learning format. Students are required to meet synchronously on Zoom every Monday-Friday* from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The afternoons should be reserved for recorded lectures, independent reading, and daily assigned work.
*The final class, MLG 453/5453 Methods and Field Studies is a two-week class and will only meet synchronously on the mornings of July 10, 12, 14, 17, and 18.
As a reminder, this four-course program meets the required guidelines for an add-on endorsement by the Mississippi Department of Education for English as a Second Language.
