The MDE Offices of Special Education and Early Childhood are pleased to announce the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) to assist school districts with implementing a blended pre-kindergarten classroom. Blended Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms are made up of both typically developing students and those who have been identified as having a disability. Students are educated together working on achieving the Mississippi Early Learning Standards. The class make up would be no more than 50% of students with disabilities in the class, with the recommended amount being approximately 40%. Funding is available for 3 years to assist with startup costs and professional development.
This purpose of this grant is to increase students’ access to high-quality early childhood programs, as stated in State Board of Education Goal 3. All Mississippi school districts are eligible. The RFP can be found at www.mdek12.org/PN/RFP.
On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at 3:00 pm, the MDE will host a webinar that explains the RFP requirements. Districts can register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4569828010517464579.
